A new website for Hertfordshire

Could your dog be a calendar star?

Last year Stanstead Abbotts residents and dog lovers came together in a really fun and worthwhile project to raise funds for St Andrew’s Primary School – producing the first Dogs of Stanstead Abbotts Calendar. Local dog owners submitted photos of their gorgeous pooches and we compiled this into a calendar, featuring as many pictures as we could. Many local businesses generously sponsored each month, including a number of canine-related firms, and together we managed to raise £700 for the school.

This year we’re hoping to do it all again and are looking for snapshots and sponsors from the local area. This time we’re planning to raise cash both for St Andrew’s and fantastic local charity ALFS, which is a Hertford-based food bank for pets whose owners are struggling in these current tough times.

If you live in the area and think your canine has what it takes to be a pin-up, send us your photo! We need the pictures to be as high-res as possible -smartphone photos often work well – ideally as clear as possible without too many items in the background such as chairs, etc.

If you have anything particularly seasonal – such as winter, spring or summer photos – do bear this in mind as we try to adapt the pictures to the seasons. Please email them to adshappeninginherts@gmail.com along with the dog’s name and what they like to do.

Ralphy our pug will hopefully be featuring again – although he is currently on a diet, as over Lockdown there became a little too much of him to love…
