In a guest post, the new radio station’s team explains how it wants to bring people in East Herts together and support the community
Over the past year and a half, we’ve seen the very best of people living in East Hertfordshire, with local residents, businesses, charities and voluntary organisations coming together to support one another. As we chart our way out of the Coronavirus pandemic, we want to give back to our local community and support the local people that have kept our wonderful towns and villages going.
That’s why we’re excited to be launching Unite Radio, a new community radio station for the district of East Herts, on site at the Hertford Castle Live Music Event at midday on Sunday 1st August. Using cutting edge broadcasting technology, and with the help of a team who care
deeply about our community, we’re hoping to harness the spirit of togetherness that’s developed throughout the pandemic and bring local people together.
We know how tough it has been for people in our community, and that’s why we want to be right alongside you as we rebuild. We want Unite Radio to be your radio station as much as it is ours – and we’re determined to offer as many opportunities to people in East Herts as we can. As the local economy reopens, we want to help the local firms that have kept our communities moving get back on their feet. That’s why we’re offering a full year of on-air advertising completely free to local businesses, charities and voluntary organisations who get in touch with us.
With a production team offering more than 30 years of experience in the radio industry, we want to give local people the opportunity to get involved and learn from us – if you want to help build a new community radio station then get in touch. We also want to support East Herts’ diverse local music scene and give artists in our community the opportunity to be heard on air. If you’re a local musician and you want to submit your work, get in touch here.
Unite Radio is a community interest company: that means we’re run for the good of the community, not for profit. Our mission is to bring local people together, support our community as we rebuild after the pandemic and offer real opportunities for those who want to get involved. We’re incredibly excited to be launching a truly community-focussed radio station in East Herts, and area we care about enormously. We hope you’ll be able to join us either at the Hertford Castle Live Music Event or on air next month.
