Want to teach your child road safety? Laura Zitver of RAFT Road Awareness for Tots to Teens tells all about the road safety sessions she is running over half-term as part of Sele Cycle Week
As part of Sele Cycle Week, RAFT, Road Awareness for Tots to Teens, is holding road safety sessions this half term in partnership with Active East Herts. RAFT – Road Awareness For Tots to Teens, teaches road awareness and safety messages in a unique, fun, creative and memorable way for children from 2 to 13 years of age (and also adults). The sessions will run on Tuesday 1 June for ages 2-4 years, 5-9 years and 10-13 years.
Fun and excitement are important within the learning process so there are a range of ways to teach and remember ‘road rules’, inclusive of songs, craft, experiments, role play and much more! For older children there are opportunities to talk about the big transitions from Primary to Secondary school and also explore how to keep themselves and their friends safe when travelling to and from school.
All our learning happens in a safe and controlled environment (normally inside). Providing children with road safety education early on can instil positive lifelong attitudes and skills helping them to become safer road users, whilst also encouraging ‘active travel’ which has a positive impact on our planet, minds and bodies!
